COVID-19 protests in Australian immigration detentions

Refugee Action Coalition (RAC) and Human Rights for All are among many who are urging the Government to step-up to protect people in detentions amid the coronavirus. This comes as basic social distancing and sanitation measures are currently not met in detention centres.


Fears over the spread of coronavirus have sparked a number of hunger strike protests across immigration detention centres, leading to the arrests of three men in Villawood on April 16.The arrests have resulted in the halt of the hunger strike in Villawood, while protests continue in other states.
